Vancouver-based and Populist-supported charity, One Girl Can, has just announced their 9th annual “IWANTtoBE” fundraiser, where you can learn all about how they’re making a difference in the world and how you can help.

This special evening will also have a special guest, Celine Nthenya, traveling all the way from Kenya to share her incredible journey of being the first in her family to attend university, what it feels like to have completed her degree in Information Technology, and what she has planned next.

These are the kinds of impacts donations have on not just one girl’s life, but on the generational shift these girls are helping make in a society that has never valued women.  One Girl Can provides girls with the tools they need to create a meaningful life and a successful career. With access to safe schools, scholarships to complete a high school and university education, training and internship opportunities, and mentorship to harness their potential, girls can overcome gender inequality barriers and achieve their goals. Then, they give back to help other girls do the same.

This isn’t your average stuffy black tie gala though.  This annual event is purposefully designed to be accessible, fast-paced and shared with friends. Even the ticket itself supports the cause and helps propel One Girl Can forward. The evening will be an immersive experience, hosted by Sonia Mangat from e-Talk in Toronto and you’ll get a cocktail hour, dinner by Commodore’s Executive Chef Dan Tigchelaar, music by DJ James Kingori from Kenya, and real life stories from a One Girl Can graduate. The evening will culminate in a thrilling live auction with luxury experiences, art, safari journeys and
more.

The goal of this year’s event is to raise $600,000 to continue to scale the work that they do and provide many more opportunities to ensure these girls become financially independent. “We have a proven model built over the past 14 years and we just need to do more of it now.”

Tickets for “IWANTtoBE” are on sale now.  General admission tickets receive a compliment art drink and an AG gift bag valued at $80. VIP tickets are $350 and offer an AG gift bag valued at $165 plus prime table seating and VIP table service.
