A new rooftop restaurant opens in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour area

‘Middle Eastern’ are the hot words in Vancouver with so many new middle eastern-inspired restaurants opening this year, Lavantine Restaurant + Skybar is no different, except it’s a rooftop.. and we love a rooftop.  The new restaurant and skybar just opened last week on the 14th floor of the debut AZUR Legacy Collection Hotel (that opened last year)  in Downtown Vancouver’s Coal Harbour at 833 W. Pender Street.  The Lavantine rooftop complements the hotel’s luxury with breathtaking views and a sophisticated ambiance.

What are the vibes?

Any rooftop in Vancouver is magical because we just don’t have many and Lavantine is no exception.  The garden-like setting has a unique design with a retractable awning, a fountain like you’re in an Arabesque courtyard, lush greenery, an open-concept kitchen, window views of Vancouver’s skyscrapers, and an abundance of sunlight – for starters.

What’s on the menu?

Food is best enjoyed in the company of loved ones, so the dining experience at Lavantine centers around the essence of social and sharing experiences, encouraging guests to bond over delectable dishes while creating lasting memories.  “Our menu underscores the maxim that every dish brings us together and is a tribute to culinary creativity inspired by local and traditional ingredients and recipes from the region of Levant,” says Sofia Sayani, AZUR’s Managing Director of Food & Beverage. “Combined with the stunning rooftop setting, every bite is thoughtfully designed to take guests on a journey, create connections and leave lasting impressions.”

The menu is a marriage of Eastern Mediterranean coastal-inspired cuisine and strong influences from traditional and local ingredients, like the Lavantine Salad (crispy chickpea, red pepper, fig, cucumber, red onion, tomato, pomegranate and roasted garlic vinaigrette), traditional dips like Hummus, Babaganoush and Muhammara, small plates like Kibbeh (mozzarella, beef, jalapeño and coconut), Green Falafel with maple tahini, Octopus with batata harra, tamarind rosewater glaze and radicchio, entrées from the fire like Lamb Aleppo Kebab with pine nut, cilantro and red pepper, Tiger Prawns with cilantro, dill, garlic and smoked pepper, and Beef Tenderloin with roasted pepper, crispy onion and Levant sauce, among others.

What about drinks?

Wine lovers can choose from the very best of France, Spain and Italy as well as local and Napa Valley standouts.
And for the cocktails – “Each cocktail on the menu is a reflection of our bar team innovative approach to mixology, blending traditional and contemporary elements to create unique and unforgettable flavor experiences,” says Bar Manager Serhii Kulikov. “The new beverage program at Lavantine Rooftop Restaurant is not just about drinks; it’s about creating memories and taking our guests on a culinary adventure around the world.”

Highlights from the new cocktail menu include the Rahat Lokum Old Fashioned, inspired by Turkey’s sweet delight, blending floral notes and warm spices to evoke Istanbul’s vibrant streets. The Pandan Cheesecake Delight channels Thailand with its lush pandan aroma and velvety textures. The Negroni Passion Créme Brûlée fuses the classic Negroni with Spain’s luscious Passion Fruit Créme Brûlée, balancing bold sophistication with creamy decadence. The Baklava Espresso Martini pays tribute to Greece, combining Baklava’s rich flavors with espresso’s intense aroma and velvety texture. The Ambrosia Dirty Martini, inspired by Italy’s Strawberry Pineapple Ambrosia Salad, merges briny olive notes with fruity sweetness and tropical zest. Just to name a few, but you’ll have to visit to try them all.
