There’s an artistic culture crawl happening next weekend

It’s the 27th annual Eastside Cultural Crawl and it’s happening November 16th – 19th, 2023.   The four-day festival weekend will have the Vancouver Eastside’s art buildings, artist studios and workshops opening to the public, with a lineup of almost 450 artists participating for events and activities, including a multi-gallery, juried preview exhibition, artist talks and demos.

The Eastside Cultural Crawl is one of the biggest cultural events of the fall season and the open studios attract and inspire tens of thousands of visitors to the area, specifically to Columbia Street, 1st Avenue, Victoria Drive, and the Waterfront, which are the most concentrated parts for artists, designers, performers, craftspeople and culture producers in Vancouver.  The festival gives visitors a window into the artistic practices of artists living and/or working in Vancouver’s Eastside Arts District, representing creators specializing in painting, jewelry, sculpture, furniture, leather goods, photography, glass works, textiles, and more.

If you can’t make the weekend festivities, there’s also the Culture Crawl’s 2023 feature preview exhibition “Out of Control”, where artists submit their artwork to a jury to be judged. The theme is ‘breaking rules, being reckless and feeling unrestricted’ and will be judged by Paul De Guzman, Eri Ishii, and Hugh Kearney.  The exhibit runs across four galleries and venues from October 24th – November 26th.
