16 CBC Musical Nooners

Mark your calendars and schedule an extended “lunch break.” The CBC Music Nooners free outdoor concert series returns to Vancouver for its 9th year allllll summer long. So grab a bite and enjoy some live music! This year’s lineup features a mix of everything including indie, folk, pop, soul, roots, blues, gospel, Afro-Cuban, jazz – the list goes on.

15 French Fry Day at Bells and Whistles

There’s Friday, and then there’s FRY-DAY! In honour of National French Fry Day, Fraserhood eatery Bell and Whistles will be offering a special one-day-only promo. Order a burger or sandwich and up your fry game from a standard side of fries to ‘fancy fries’ for free! Choose from Chilli Cheese Fries with aged cheddar, Chowder Fries with locally caught fish, and Curry Fries complete with lamb curry, mint-lime yogurt, braised chickpeas, and cilantro.

14 Folk Festival

A Canadian cultural jewel, this three-day folk festival features over 60 international artists hailing from all over the world across multiple stages and lawns at Jericho Beach Park.

12 Bard on the Beach

“Fair is foul, and foul is fair.” If Bard on the Beach isn’t already on your Vancouver bucket list, it should be. One of Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare Festivals, Bard on the Beach wows with Shakespeare plays, related dramas, and special events hosted in two performance tents from June through September.  Taking the stage this year: Macbeth, As You Like It, Timon of Athens and Lysistrata!

11 Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre Free Wednesday Night Concert Series

10 Theatre Under the Stars

A popular Vancouver tradition, TUTS is an incredible platform for amateur performers and technicians to share their passion and talent with visitors and locals alike on the big stage in the middle of beautiful Stanley Park.  Theatre Under the Stars got its start in 1940 when a group of local theatre folks got together to produce professional musicals during the summer.

9 Honda Celebration of Light

BC’s largest live production, Honda Celebration of Light features three, breathtaking performances by countries from around the world.  Lighting up the skies this year is team South Africa, Sweden, and South Korea! In addition to the fireworks, catch pre-show entertainment at Second Beach with music from Redbull DJ Nick Bike, Jully Black, and DiRTY RADiO.

7 Khatsahlano! Music + Art Festival

West 4th Ave from Burrard to MacDonald turns into one giant street party with over 50 local musical performers, street performers and work by local artisans. The 10-block street fair also includes beer gardens, food vendors, market stalls and more!

6 The Really Gay History Tour

A vibrant new walking tour, The Really Gay History Tour is your guide to the stories, landmarks, and icons of Vancouver’s LGBTQ2+ community. Did you know that Granville Street was once home to Vancouver’s first gay bars? Or how about the story behind two-spirited warrior Gone to the Spirits? The tour kicks off downtown and weaves through the city, wrapping up in the historic Davie Street Village.

4 Third Beach Drum Circle

If joining complete strangers on a beach as you vibe in unison to the beat of drums sounds like your idea of a good time, then Brahm’s Tams weekly drum circle at 3rd Beach is literally – your jam. Even if it doesn’t, you can’t call yourself a true Vancouverite or if you’re a visitor, you can’t leave Vancouver without this unique experience.

3 Symphony at Sunset

With sweeping views of English Bay and the West Side, Sunset Beach makes the perfect setting for just about anything, including a free one-day concert presented by the Vancouver Park Board and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in celebration of the VSO’s 100th anniversary season.

Pack your own picnic or grab a bite from the food trucks on site. The staged performance will begin at 7:15 and end with a stunning sunset performance by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at 9 pm.

Come early! Space will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

2 Carnaval Del Sol

If anyone knows how to throw the ultimate summer fiesta, it’s the Latin American community! Celebrating 10 years, Carnaval del Sol, the biggest Latin American Festival in the PNW will bring together over 450 performers that highlight the diversity and richness of Vancouver’s Latin American community for two full days of art, music, dance, poetry and sports. Explore multiple plaza zones including a beer plaza that seats 1000, a food plaza and even a health and wellness plaza! Don’t forget to don your best Latin American-themed costumes for your chance to win a prize!

Admission is by a $2 donation for adults. Free for seniors and kids 12 and under.

Tuesday nights are known as cheap movie night and now, FREE movie night with the return of the highly popular Summer Cinema Series, presented by Evo Car Share.  Grab your buds, blankets, find a spot on the green at Stanley Park and relive your childhood with classics like The Lion King and Titanic. If you’re looking for a more VIP experience, you can purchase tickets for the Fresh Air Cinema Gold Circle VIP Seating Zone or Dinner and a Movie package and dine at some of the West End’s best restaurants!
