16 CULTURE FESTIVALS in Vancouver This July

Join communities across the Lower Mainland in celebrating culture with food, music, art and more throughout the summer. As the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival and the YVR Food Cart Festival come to a close, and you recover from Canada Day celebrations, the rest of July offers a variety of other festivals to attend. There’s something for everyone and plenty to be discovered at these popular festivals around town:

16  Greek Summerfest

Where| St. Nicholas and Dimitrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4641 Boundary Road, Vancouver
When| July 6 – 16, 2017
Time| 12:00pm – 10:00pm

If you enjoyed the Surrey Greek Food Festival or Greek Day on Broadway this June, you can get your Greek on some more at this 11-day Greek summer festival. Greek food, music and culture is all celebrated, Opa!

15 Indian Summer Festival

When| July 6 – 15, 2017
Where| Various locations around Vancouver

Southeast Asian art is featured at this 7th annual contemporary multi-arts festival which includes includes music, writers, thinkers, visual art, performances, public art and more.

14 Khatsahlano Street Party

Where| West 4th Avenue, Vancouver
When| July 8, 2017
Time| 11:00am – 9:00pm

West 4th Ave from Burrard to MacDonald turns into one giant street party with over 50 local musical performers, street performers and work by local artisans. The 10-block street fair also includes beer gardens, food vendors, market stalls and more.

13 Squamish Beer Festival

Where| O’Siyam Pavilion, Squamish
When| July 8, 2017
Time| 2:00pm – 8:00pm

Craft beer culture is celebrated one pint at a time in the heart of Downtown Squamish. The beer festival includes 50 breweries, 200+ craft brews, music and food trucks.

12 Harrison Festival of the Arts

Where| Harrison Hot Springs
When| July 8 – 16, 2017
Time| 11:00am – 10:00pm

Harrison Hot Springs showcases an art market and performing arts for 9 days featuring local and international artists.  Activities include live music, visual art displays, art market, workshops, live theater, Children’s day and more.

11 Carnaval del Sol

Where| Concord Pacific Place
When| July 8 – 9, 2017
Time| 10:00am – 9:00pm

The biggest Latin Carnaval celebration in the Pacific Northwest includes a main stage for artists and singers, an urban art plaza, a beer garden, a cooking demo show, a family/kids plaza, a fashion show, a mini soccer tournament and of course lots and lots of authentic delicious food! Fiesta!

The event is part of the Latin American Week of events supported by the City of Vancouver to promote multiculturalism. It also includes a fiesta blanca cruise, Latin film night and dance with wine night.

10 Car Free Day

Where| Commercial Drive (Venables to N. Grandview)
When| July 9, 2017
Time| 12:00pm – 7:00pm

15 blocks along Commercial Drive close for this annual family-friendly festival which includes street performers, live music, food and more. The walkable road festival discourages driving to the festival with re-routed transit. It also promotes car free spaces and green culture in the community.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival

Where| Jericho Beach
When| July 14 – 16, 2017
Time| 1:00pm – 11:00pm

The three day folk festival features over 60 international artists including singers and bands across multiple stages and lawns. There’s also a beer garden, food fest, artisan market and kids crafts to enjoy.

Mission Folk Music Festival

Where| Fraser River Heritage Park, Mission
When| July 21 – 23, 2017
Time| 12:00pm – 10:00pm

Feeling folksy? Join the 30th annual Mission Folk Music Festival for a weekend of live music and entertainment. Headliners include John Welsh Band, Locarno and Mazacote. Over 2 dozen other artists are also featured including youth and local acts.

Port Moody Rib Fest

Where| The Rotary Club of Port Moody
When| July 21 – 23, 2017
Time| 11:00am – 9:00pm

The Rotary Club of Port Moody presents 3 days of finger licking delicious BBQ, live music, craft beer, family entertainment and more. Get your rib on!

Thai Festival

Where| Vancouver Art Gallery
When| July 22 – 23, 2017
Time| 10:30am – 8:00pm

The Royal Thai Consulate-General of Vancouver and the Vancouver Art Gallery present the 4th Thai Festival in Vancouver. The event takes place at the North Plaza of the art gallery and celebrates Thai music, culture and food. There will be Thai performances, workshops, fruit carvings and food demos.

Surrey Fusion Festival

Where| Holland Park
When| July 22 – 23, 2017
Time| 11:00am – 10:00pm

As a multicultural gem, Surrey is celebrating 10 years of Fusion with music, food and tons of culture. The festival includes over 40 country pavilions, performers including Nelly Furtado and Classified and other things to do like a Canada 150 Zone, Fly Over Canada, a photo booth and more.

4  Squamish Wind Festival

Where| Downtown Squamish
When| July 27 – 29, 2017
Time| 10:00am – 5:00pm

The “Outdoor Recreation Capital of the World” showcases wind and water sports with demonstrations at the Squamish Wind Festival. The festival includes a free outdoor movie night and a farmers market. There’s also live music, art showcases, beer gardens and food trucks.

Honda Celebration of Light

Where| English Bay
When| July 29 (plus August 2 & 5), 2017

Japan kicks off the annual international celebration of light fireworks on July 29th. The other two countries competing this year include UK and Canada. The celebration also includes live music and food trucks.

Caribbean Days Festival

Where| Waterfront Park, North Vancouver
When| July 29 – 30, 2017
Time| 10:0am – 7:00pm

The Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Society of BC hosts the North Shore’s Caribbean Days which include a multicultural street parade, an island and international food fair, a Caribbean market, a Family Zone for kids, carnival-style live music, entertainment, dancing and more.

1 Deighton Cup

Where| Hastings Racecourse
When| July 22, 2017
Time| 11am – 6pm

Get dressed up in your Sunday’s finest, drink mint juleps, smoke cigars and watch the horse races.

For its 9th year, one of the summer’s most exciting events is back! All tickets to The Deighton Cup include a delectable lunch prepared by some of Vancouver’s finest chefs, access to the Marquee and Concourse area, as well as the lounge of leisure, picnic area, cigar lounge and champagne stage. Bring your lucky charm and start the bets.

Plus… TACO FEST 2017!!!

The 3rd annual Vancouver Taco Fest takes over Burnaby’s beautiful Swangard Stadium. The outdoor family event includes live music, local vendors, all the best taco stalls and trucks, a taco eating contest, a giant taco pinata, live wrestling, a bar and more. Taco Fest 2017 takes place July 8th and starts at noon!
