Located right in the heart of Kitsilano, Maenam is serving up authentic Thai cuisine with innovative twists. They offer family-style dining, but on the more upscale and classy end. Traditionally as it is to be known, each dish should contribute to the balance of four main styles: hot, sour, sweet and salty. Come hungry and ready for a super culinary experience.
3 Kin Kao
903 Commercial Drive
This 25- seat restaurant is serving up lunch, dinner, and take-out. Kin Kao translates to “eat rice”, and offers a menu selection that is simple yet extremely authentic. Inspired by tradition, their chef is a native of Bangkok, and personally hand selects spices that are directly imported from Thailand.
Bonus: they also have a great local craft beer selection.
3755 Main Street and 1521 West Broadway
For a super casual, home-style Northern Thai food experience, hit up Bob Likes Thai Food. A great spot to dine-in or to to take-out, fan favourites include the green curry chicken, pad thai, and a seriously addictive milk tea. If you’re feeling adventurous, try Bob’s Poutine, a Thai take on a Canadian classic made with deep-fried thinly sliced taro root, and topped off with deep-fried Tofu, chili and green curry sauce, and lemongrass.
1459 W Broadway
Awarded ‘Silver’ in the 2016 Vancouver Magazine awards, Jitlada on Broadway and Hemlock has a reputation for serving up fresh and innovative plates. Take, for example, their seafood curry, a medley of quality ingredients served in a coconut shell! All of their dishes are beautifully presented and although the menu is limited, you can’t go wrong with your order. The space itself is just as sophisticated, and feels more like a fine dining establishment. If you’re looking to impress a fellow foodie or Thai lover, this is the spot!
