Not-So-Basic PSL's

With the weather changing, Basic Bitches are rejoicing! Aritzia scarves, NY baseball hats and… the Pumpkin Spiced Latte!!
However, the PSL can be enjoyed by all and isn’t limited to the popular Starbucks creation – or white girls for that matter. For those of you not basic enough to be seen with a Starbucks cup (but still kind of basic ’cause you like PSL) these cafes will surpass your desires.

5 Trees Organic

They’re famous for their cheesecake – so good it’s stupid – but Trees Organic Coffee and Roasting House also deserve recognition for their PSL. The same delicate attention to detail that this coffee shop invests in their cheesecake and coffee is evident in their PSL, a fresh, unique drank your bohemian hipster friends will approve of. Pair it with this month’s feature Pumpkin Spice cheesecake because you can’t ever have too much pumpkin. But mostly ’cause it’ll make for a cool IG foodie pic. #YouCanSipWithUs

4 Blenz Coffee

Okay, okay. Before you get all “Uhh, but isn’t Blenz kinda basic?” on us, hear us out. When you think of pumpkin pie, we usually think “rich” “smooth” and “sweet” which is how pumpkin pie should be and the simplest way to describe Blenz’s Pumpkin Pie Latte. This drink is Thanksgiving-in-your-mouth-GOOD. It’s not mean to be altered (take your almond-milk-half-sweet-no whip ass demands elsewhere) and is best enjoyed exactly as it is. And in our opinion, there’s nothing basic about a pumpkin pie flavoured latte tasting like a god-damn pumpkin pie. #KeepinIt100

3 Railtown Café

Is there ANYTHING Railtown Café can’t get right? (That’s a rhetorical question – FYI.) The magic of Railtown Cafe’s PSL is in their syrup, a house-made pumpkin syrup which contains milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, vanilla, and espresso! #RealTown

2 West Elm

Ginger. Star anise. Chili flakes. We can’t even with this creation by West Elm star barista, Theo Jakob. Balance is the key to this PSL and this unusual combo of flavours is sure to ignite your tastebuds. P.S. If you can’t pronounce “anise,” you’re far too basic to appreciate this drink. Sorry, bae. #FarFromBasic

1 Thomas Haas

If Jesus himself had the option of choosing a PSL – he’d go with Thomas Haas. Thomas Haas is the King of Chocolate in Vancouver and may even be the King of the PSL. #DasGud
