With the royal wedding less than a month away, people are in a frenzy to find out all the behind-the-scenes deets. While we’re sad to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle off the market.. and Suits never being the same, we all secretly wish we were them. For those in love with the most beautiful royal couple’s matrimony, or for anyone simply looking to get in the “royal” spirit, here’s a five-step guide on how to “treat yourself like a royal,” and fully prepare for the big day.
5 How to Act
What’s more English than afternoon tea? Nothing, nothing at all, that’s why the first step to feeling like a royal is to visit to your local teahouse for some tea and cucumber sandwiches (the Queen’s favourite). Check out Adonia Tea House in Kerrisdale, and Neverland Tea Salon on West Broadway, for the full experience.
4 What to Wear
What does the Queen wear? Whatever she wants… but also bright colours to stand out in a crowd, so the public can recognize her. For some brightly colour dress suits and fancy hats, Saks Off Fifth at Tsawwassen Mills is a good spot. They also happen to have a contest right now to win a trip for two to the actual royal wedding! You can enter at the Royal Wedding iPad station, near the food hall. Contest runs from April 30 – May 8th.
3 How to Unwind
In her downtime, the Queen breeds horses – she trains around 25 horses at the royal studs every season. Obviously we’re not going to breed horses and just leave that up to the pros, but you can take an introductory horseback riding course at Southland Farms. They offer private lessons for all ages and skill levels and it’s a great way to de-stress and escape the city life.
2 What to Eat
The Queen treats herself to a glass of champagne with some chocolate on a nightly basis, and we think you should too. Check out Mosquito in Gastown for some decadent desserts and high-end champagne that even the Queen would approve!
1 What to Drink
To feel extra royal and sparkly, try this gin-based lavender-colored Markle’s Sparkle at The Victor, in honor of the soon-to-be princess.
